20.3.2011 - 26.3.2011 Lapland pedition
Savukoski pedition will take place in the next week. 300 (1km) and 330 (700m) degree beverages are already there and at least one more will be placed. Haven't been in pedition so late in the spring in the north so not sure what to expect.
8.3.2011 Radio Nord Revival 6060 khz
50 years jubileum transmission with 10 kW heard here in Hankasalmi from Sala, Sweden. Actually transmission was forked with Tecsun PL-380, which had it's telescope antenna removed. Signal was clear and audible for a quite long time and without noise. Later in the evening in Jyväskylä there was equal strength russian station audible as well. It was interesting program to follow!

Africa on FM - Al Shababiyah FM

Heard on May 2010, not identified on then until now March 2011 when Samir Elahcene checked the clip. With my Arabic skills this had been mission impossible. This skip is now my record with 3421 km.
It seems from the picture attached that there could have been bounce on the Hungarian ground (near Gyor, 1700km), luckily there was no transmitter at that spot. Also ES clouds must have been above Lithuania/Kaliningrad and South Italy (Parco Nazionale del Ciento e Vallo Di Diano to be precise). Another thing which made this possible was a clear channel on 88.8 MHz. Classic FM Jämsä, 87 km to SW from here, ceased transmission 2009 and Summer Festival station in summer 2010 had not yet started.
One interesting point is that there were no other stations logged on that day. This seems similar occasion as Annaba FM from Algeria later that good summer in this same frequency, it was also only station heard at that time.
And the station itself: mp3

/Edit 6.3.2011 Map and bounce locations.
Utö7 signal distribution
Picture shows how and where from the signals travel to Utö:- Yellow - Utö island
- Blue - tropo, mainly for coasts
- Green - meteors
- Red - ES propagation
There where couple of new meteor countries to me; Belgium, Austria, Italy and Serbia.
Maps shows clearly why UK meteors are quite rare in the Center Finland, best transmission location is in the North Sea.
4.1.2011 - Quadrantids

This years Quadrantids proved to be a challengin beast. Local max was here about 5 - 6 UTC. There were a lot of pings but those were dreadfully short ones. In the evening though pings were fewer but longer.

96.3 S: Radio Romano SR P2 12.56
105.2 D: Hitradio RTL Sachsen, Dresden 11.28
12.12 - 15.12 Geminids

Geminids meteor shower provided a lot of tiny pings and some longer ones. Longest was +2 minutes. Althought the peak was on the 14th around 11 UTC, the most usable (long ones) pings were in the nights. The effect of repositioning the antenna (due strong homeland tropo) was that almost no east European pings heard this time. Instead those, a lot of Norwegian and Swedish and BBC Radio Nan Gaidheal peaks. Nan Gaidheal has 150 kw so it was expected, but no luck/id althought it was a regular visitor.
