Rock it in, leave it on, WHO!

Rock it in, leave it on, WHO! This very same applies to Perseus SDR. It's radio qualities are outstanding. Equally disturbing are some software quirks with recording, most notably hang ups.

Wonderful conditions up to 20th day to NA, then later SA. Some new ones from log:

MW Equipment Update

SDR IQs and Icom went to new happy owners.

Perseus

I have now new SDR receiver Perseus with the possibility to record the whole mw-band, which should simplify the recording process. In the first Perseus listening tests the receiver seems to be more selective than the SDR IQ. Euro splatter could be rejected more easily. Also the controlling software has a few more advanced features than the Spectravue used with IQ, especially notch function is a must!
This March 2009 version of the controlling software seems to have a tendency to crash. I have solved this problem with killing the control sowftware just before actual recording takes place and then relaunching it. Also booting the Windows machine couple of times daily seems to have a positive effect.

Antennas
Antennas naturally received major blows during summer. Heavy wind has caused some heavy casualties in the forests. Also forest harvesting snapped a few hundred meters away from the east antenna. I have now DXE-RPA-1 coaxial preamplifier, which itself is a must, because of the long coax feed. At the moment antenna configuration is as follows:
- 700 m 135 degrees / 320 degrees backward beverage to the North America
- 400 m 105 degrees to the China / 290 degrees backward beverage to the East coast of NA.
- 250 m 40 degrees to the Korea, Japan and China / backward section seems to pick very well Spain and the British Isles.
- 1000 m 170 degrees to the South / 350 degrees backward section to the Alaska.
- 1000 m 225 degrees to the West Africa.
