Good NA going on, I checked and fixed broken antennas. East wire give something to hurray about.
Powerful Japanese an Korean stations were .. powerful. To name a few, usual suspects HLKB, HLKN, JOIF, JOFR, JOER were dominants.

MW Equipment Update
SDR IQs and Icom went to new happy owners.
Perseus
I have now new SDR receiver Perseus with the possibility to record the whole mw-band, which should simplify the recording process. In the first Perseus listening tests the receiver seems to be more selective than the SDR IQ. Euro splatter could be rejected more easily. Also the controlling software has a few more advanced features than the Spectravue used with IQ, especially notch function is a must!
This March 2009 version of the controlling software seems to have a tendency to crash. I have solved this problem with killing the control sowftware just before actual recording takes place and then relaunching it. Also booting the Windows machine couple of times daily seems to have a positive effect.
Antennas
Antennas naturally received major blows during summer. Heavy wind has caused some heavy casualties in the forests. Also forest harvesting snapped a few hundred meters away from the east antenna. I have now DXE-RPA-1 coaxial preamplifier, which itself is a must, because of the long coax feed. At the moment antenna configuration is as follows:
- 700 m 135 degrees / 320 degrees backward beverage to the North America
- 400 m 105 degrees to the China / 290 degrees backward beverage to the East coast of NA.
- 250 m 40 degrees to the Korea, Japan and China / backward section seems to pick very well Spain and the British Isles.
- 1000 m 170 degrees to the South / 350 degrees backward section to the Alaska.
- 1000 m 225 degrees to the West Africa.

This day achievement was Hit Radio 90.3, from Germany or Italy/Austria. Based on previous encounters with meteors, this is likely to be the German version.

26.6.2009 - Equipment update
Today I got second new Sony XDR-F1HD radio. Kuuhankavesi Körner antenna has now Triax preamp A88108, which seems to have a positive effect at least for tropo and meteor propagation. It will be interesting to see how it works with ES.
Denmark 90.8 (908 km) was coming with low level signal almost through the whole day. These guys love to talk, no id, no rds. Another dominant here is Sveriges P1 (400km), with weather reports.

91.7 Raadio Elmar, Koeru (380km)

25.5.2009 FM season has started
Jyväskylä Körner 15.9 antenna.
Jyväskylä Yagi has best direction towards SE, because hill/mountain Laajavuori is blocking west.
I decided to give a try for FM DXing. So I ordered the above antenna from Sweden. Körner antenna has very solid build and was quite selfexplanatory to build up. System includes also Yaesu G-250 antenna rotor, but currently no preamp since Jyväskylä has quite many FM trasmitters.
FM receiver system includes now Sony XDR-F1HD and Icom IC8500. Sony has better sound quality than Icom, but it lacks scanning and OIRT band. Also Sony is quite a good heater, if there is a need for warming.
Some very first tropo catchs, which proved to be the usual suspects here:
88.2 Tartu Pereraadio, Kohtla-Nömme (339) 25.5 *
90.4 ERR Klassikaraadio, Kohtla-Nömme (339) 25.5
93.4 ERR Raadio 4, Koeru (380km)
